Special Needs – A Place to belong

It has been on my heart for some time to provide a safe and welcoming place where children who have special needs can come and be part of our church community. To provide a place where these children belong. A Place where God’s love would be continually demonstrated through the genuine care and friendships of his people. That this love would be so contagious that it would reach not only children with special needs but also their families for Jesus. Our church would be a place where families would come because they trust us and know that God is doing amazing things at this place

It has been an exciting journey for me as we look towards growing the Children’s Ministry staff team because this will mean we can increase our impact in our community as well as our church. Next year, under God, I look forward to our Assistant Children’s Minister doing the much needed research and planning for this special ministry. There is a small group of families in our church who have children with special needs as well as professionals who have experience and training in these fields. 2010 will be dedicated to working hard in understanding the needs, physically and emotionally in caring for and supporting families in our community with special needs and seeking to develop an environment that can also share the hope that only Jesus can offer. As we look for a long term commitment to this ministry, we mast dedicate 2010 to understanding how to start this new ministry area well, so we establish a strong and lasting ministry for the future of our church to bring glory to Jesus.

Please pray for the future of this ministry. That God will provide the resources and people necessary to begin this ministry. Pray that appropriate strategic planning and development will occur in 2010 and that God will give us much wisdom, so that lives will be changed as more children and families will be brought into a meaningful relationship with Jesus.
