Why Fairtrade?
Most third-world farmers live at the mercy of multi-national companies that only pay a very low "take it or leave it" price due to a world over-supply of coffee.
Fairtrade is an international, non-profit organisation that pays poor third-world farmers a guaranteed minimum price, through local farming co-operatives, for products like tea, coffee, chocolate and cotton. Fairtrade also re-invests funds into these farming co-operatives to assist them in developing better farming practices and to assist them in creating community assets like schools for children.
Farmers can then feed, clothe and educate their families.

Why does St. Paul's sell Fairtrade?
As Christians, we are called to help our brothers and sisters in need. So if we can help our needy brothers and sisters to make a fair living by buying Fairtrade products - we will!
We sell Fairtrade tea, coffee and chocolate. We also partner with local roaster, Pine Tea Coffee to produce our own unique blend of coffee called MALACCI.
By serving and selling Malacci coffee at our Church we are able to generate a small profit that currently goes to Beacon of Hope ministry in Kenya so they can give medical care and employment to women suffering from HIV/AIDs.

Why Beacon of Hope?
HIV/AIDS is the biggest health issue in Africa and given our existing links with Nairobi Chapel, we considered that Beacon of Hope was the ideal ministry to benefit from direct monetary donations from our Fairtrade profits.
Currently our gifts to Beacon of Hope are being used to develop a new site for their income-generating efforts, health services and education activities.
